How You Can Help

As we move toward the future, we know that there is a long road ahead of us. We have certainly made progress along this path and know that this is in no small part to the people who have been carrying us along. We are extremely grateful for all the ways people have reached out to us since the diagnosis. We don’t believe that our situation entitles us to anything, nor do we expect anything from anyone. We learned quickly in this process, though, that people are unbelievably kind and often want to help somehow. We’ve had many inquiries about what people can do for us, and we are still learning how to accept or even ask for types of assistance. The information on this page will hopefully provide a little bit of a bridge between those things.

Many have expressed interest in providing meals to us. If you would like to do so, please consider things that can be frozen and also bear in mind that it is just the two of us. If you would prefer to provide a gift card to a local restaurant, that works as well. Some local places that Emily enjoys (in no particular order) include:

  • Cracker Barrel
  • Gringos
  • Pei Wei
  • BJs Brewery
  • Texas Roadhouse
  • Freebirds
  • Luby’s
  • Five Guys
  • Whataburger
  • Olive Garden

Because of the rarity of primary peritoneal cancer, there’s not a large organization that focuses on the research or cure of this specific diagnosis. If you are interested in donating to cancer research in general and helping rid the world of it for good, we support Stand Up 2 Cancer. SU2C focuses heavily on research, which is the quickest way to new treatments and cures.
